STANDING LAMB

Standing Lamb is 8” high White lamb with Black felt eyes and nose and a Black embroidered mouth and a Red satin neck ribbon. This is a very early toy designed by Mary Meyer herself and dates back to the ealrly 1940s as an oil cloth toy and then made in White plush in the late 1940s and through the 1950s.
If you look carefully the phot shows the 1952 version of #122 and the eyes and nose are sewn on. The center of the eye is a French knot. After sewing on the eyes the thread came out of the nose and the Black felt nose was attached and then the mouth was sewn finishing the toy’s face.
This White Lamb was made in White plush through the 1950s and early 1960s.
There were 2 White lambs in the Mary Meyer line of toys:
#122 – 8” high – $1.98 retal
#118 – 6” high – $1.69 retail.
These two Lambs competed with each other through the 1940, 1950 and on. They competed with each other and the small, less expensive version always won. The large Lamb was only made in White. The small Lamb sold well and Black was added as a choice, which increased the total sales. The small Lamb continued part of the Mary Meyer line of toys, long after the larger Lamb design was retired.
