TERRY HORSE
Mary Meyer made a line of Terry Cloth toys for over 15 years, beginning in 1960s. This
“Terry Toy” Horse was 6” high. Made of terry cloth & stuffed with foam rubber. It was a washable baby toy. There were 11 different designs in the “Terry Toy” family. Colorful,
washable & very popular.
The Mary Meyer “Terry Toys” family was started in 1966. It filled a niche for low cost
stuffed animals. The outer fabric was terry cloth and they were stuffed with shredded
foam rubber and later shredded polyurethane foam, which was lighter and washed
better.
This Horse fabric was a white terry cloth with red stripes and was a very popular
design. We also made this same pattern in a plush fabric. The mane was red fringe
and the tail red yarn and the toy was decorated with felt eyes.
